Published in Arts, March 1983.

Since 1982, Frank Stella has published three very different series of prints which, as the master printer Kenneth Tyler declared, “blast a hole in the traditional tools and aesthetics of printmaking.” Stella has perhaps changed for all time the very definition of what a print can be, and he has accomplished this feat with works of remarkable power and beauty.
