A review of the catalogue of the Jaune Quick-to-See Smith retrospective presented at the Whitney Museum of American Art in 2023. The catalogue was edited by Associate (then Assistant) Curator Laura Phipps. It includes a conversation with Lowery Stokes Sims, lead essays by Phipps, Candice Hopkins, Richard William Hill, and Josie M. Lopez, and contributions by over a dozen other writers, including the artist and her son and sometimes collaborator, Neal Ambrose-Smith. The review points out that this Memory Map catalogue is essential, but in some ways flawed.
